“The UN is horrified by any violation of norms in Gaza”

United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric expressed deep concern and warned of gross violations of norms and rights against the residents of the Gaza Strip.

“We are appalled by any violation. I think the video of a Palestinian tied to a military jeep was really terrible and there must be responsibility for such behavior,” Dujarric answered when asked by AA journalists what the UN’s reaction is to Israel’s attacks, which continue to violate international humanitarian law.

A video of a wounded Palestinian strapped to a military jeep during a raid carried out by Israeli forces on Saturday in the occupied city of Jenin in the West Bank was recently published on social networks.

Recalling the baby who was killed in today’s Israeli bombardment in Gaza, Dujarric said that it was just another tragic example of human suffering.

“There are many, many people, young, old, of any age, who continue to suffer and continue to die in this conflict until the parties agree to stop this conflict,” Dujarric said.

More than 37,700 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7 last year, and more than 86,400 have been injured.

More than eight months into Israeli attacks, large parts of Gaza lie in ruins amid severe blockades of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians have sought refuge from the war, Anadolu Agency writes.
