The United Kingdom has suspended 30 Arms Export Licences to Israel

The UK has suspended 30 arms export licenses to Israel following a review, the country’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced on Monday.

Addressing parliament, Lammy said the decision comes after a review of UK arms export licenses found there was a “clear risk” they would be used in a way that could breach international law.

“In the face of this conflict, it is a statutory duty of this government to review UK export licences,” Lammy said, AA writes.

About 30 of the 350 permits will be suspended, said the head of British diplomacy.

“This is not a blanket ban, this is not an arms embargo,” he clarified.

The British government is under fire for its continued licensing of arms exports to Israel.

In June, the Department for Business and Trade said the UK had issued 108 licenses to export arms to Israel since the Gaza conflict began on October 7, while more than 300 licenses were still active.
