The VAR system received the “green light” for use in the new season of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the news was confirmed by the president of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vico Zeljković, who announced it on social networks.

FIFA representatives Bavešan Murgen (Senior FIFA Strategic Manager for Football Technology) and Michael Bailey (FIFA VAR Project Manager) gave the green light for the use of the VAR system in the highest quality domestic competition.

This is the final evaluation based on a two-day stay in Sarajevo, where they evaluated the entire process in great detail in terms of the very demanding criteria prescribed by FIFA.

“I never doubted for a moment that we would get the green light for the use of VAR, because I know how much effort, work, time and resources we invested from the very beginning, a few months ago. This is the result of the great commitment of all the people who were involved in this process, and I thank and congratulate them. The VAR system in refereeing deals with the correction of clear and obvious mistakes in decision-making by referees on the field, and I am convinced that with this system we will raise the level of domestic competition to an even higher level, and make it more qualitative and fair for all teams. After the construction of the field with a hybrid surface, this is another major capital project that we have successfully completed, as I promised at the beginning of my mandate. Today, our highest quality club competition has a completely different look, where the audience has the opportunity to watch all the matches on small screens, on high-quality pitches, and now referee errors will be reduced to a minimum with the help of VAR technology,” said Zeljković.

The new Premier League season starts on August 2, and the title will be defended by Borac from Banja Luka, BHRT writes.
