13059408_1759465537623456_1441964650_nBiH and the Republic of Austria had a relatively short period of shared history, just 40 years, between 1878 and 1918.

But although short, this period had and still has, a strong effect on the present relations of the two countries.

Mutual perception of Austria and BiH are topic of the conference “Our Bosnia-Vienna School: Places of memories, perceptions, bridges and refractions in relations Austria – Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

The conference will be held on Thursday, the 21st of April 2016, with the beginning at 9:00 am, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo.

The aim of this international and multidisciplinary scientific conference, which is organized by the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, the Institute for Historical Social Sciences Ludwig Boltzmann from Vienna and Trinity College from Dublin, is to explore these relations and demonstrate their background and their ambivalence – from Sarajevo as the place of assassination, to social, political and linguistic interactions.

The conference will be opened by Martin Pammer, the Austrian Ambassador to BiH, and Prof. Dr. Salih Foco, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Sarajevo.

The conference is open to the public.
