Five non-governmental scientific organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Montenegro, Croatia, North Macedonia and Serbia, which deal with robotics, technologies, space research and innovation, could launch a joint satellite into space at the end of the year, with the help of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

These organizations started working together at the end of June 2022 and launched the Southeast European Space Association (SESA), i.e. the Space Association of Southeast Europe.

In an interview with Radio Free Europe (RSE), representatives of these organizations emphasized that their goal is to pool material and human resources, engage in education, especially for young people, and make progress in the field of space engineering.

These organizations founded the Association: Center for Education and Robotics, Innovation and Technology (CERIT) from Mostar (BiH), then the Committee for the Development of the Space Program from Novi Sad (Serbia), Montenegro Space Research from Podgorica (Montenegro), Adriatic Aerospace Association from Zagreb (Croatia), and the Center for Innovation and Technological Development NAVIA from Skopje (North Macedonia).

”The main goal of all five non-governmental organizations is the education of young people, ” the engineer Nikola Perovic, from the organization Montenegro space Research from Podgorica in Montenegro, pointed out.

“So, the education of elementary school students, high school students and students. Also, we have the goal of scientific research, that is space research and development of space technology,” explained Perovic.

Further, he added that space research requires adequate resources, and these five non-governmental organizations individually cannot compete with large, global organizations.

Activists of these scientific non-governmental organizations point out that space exploration does not only have purpose in itself, but is also used to protect the natural environment – forests and water, for example, RSE writes.
