There Can Be No Compromise on Issue of Security and Food Health in BiH Market

The Ombudsman for the Protection of Consumers in BiH Dragan Doko said that the position of the Ombudsman institution, as well as for all other relevant institutions, is that there cannot be any compromise when it comes to the security and health of food in the BiH market.

In the specific case of defective milk from Croatia, the Ombudsman institution for the Protection of Consumers wishes to publicly commend and thank on behalf of consumers the relevant institutions that prevented defective food from being found on the shelves in BiH. Before all, we are thinking of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in BiH, the Veterinary Office and Agency for Food Safety in BiH. This case strengthens consumer confidence in BiH institutions that conduct control of food on the market’’, said Doko in a statement to FENA.

In this regard, it is necessary that there is more to strengthen the capacity of all institutions involved in the care of human health and the health of plants and animals.

Likewise, it is necessary to implement a system of import control measures, inspection and monitoring measures in buildings and institutions that deal with import, manufacturing, processing, storage and transport of products for human consumption.

“Consumers have a right to the food that is inspected and deemed to be safe, and inspections should take all possible measures in order to reduce the risk of having food that is defective and harmful on the market’’, concluded Doko.
