Milorad Dodik’s lawyer, Goran Bubic, spoke yesterday about the current trial against the president of Republika Srpska (RS). Bubic said that not only an individual is on trial here, but also “the freedom of a nation”. He also confirmed that Milorad Dodik’s defense plans to call Christian Schmidt as a witness in the process and that there is an option to call Aleksandar Vucicand Zoran Milanovic as witnesses in the process.
”As far as immunity laws are concerned, the laws cannot be applied retroactively. I wouldn’t want to speculate anything. Citizens are already having their say, you saw this response yesterday. I have never seen anything like it, and I have been practicing law for 42 years. This means that not only an individual is on trial, but also the freedom of a nation. Not for the freedom of one individual, but for the freedom of the people,” said Bubic yesterday.
“I want to talk about certain things, about the facts that happened, I’m not a fortune-teller to talk about the future,” he added.
Bubic said that this is a politically organized process.
“Freedom in the hierarchy of human values is right after life. Libertarian nations equate freedom with life. We have here a repetition of similar events through this one politically staged process. You can see it from the plane”.
Is there an option to invite Vucic and Milanovic?
