There is no need for politics to interfere in the construction of the airport in Trebinje, and the mayor of Dubrovnik, Mato Frankovic, should not even bother if he cannot help, the mayor of Trebinje, Mirko Curic, said today.
Curic told Srna news agency that the conditions for the construction of the airport in Trebinje should be met, but the political part should not be mixed, if it is a matter of permission and fulfillment of the conditions.
He mentioned that even in the sixties of the last century, when the Cilipi airport was built in Dubrovnik, the question could be asked where that airport should be built, and according to the information he has, the location was better in Trebinje, Federalna writes.
“I am for all conditions to be met, but also without political interference. There is no need for unnecessary comments that the construction of the airport in Trebinje will affect the source of the river,” said Curic, commenting on Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic’s request to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to stop the construction of the airport in Trebinje.
He sent a message to the mayor of Dubrovnik that he does not mind if he cannot help build the airport in Trebinje.
The Mayor of Dubrovnik, Mato Frankovic, asked the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to stop the construction of the airport in Trebinje until the impact on the environment across state borders is examined and it is determined that there is no impact on the source of the Ombla River.
