There will be no Construction of Two Mini Hydroelectric Power Plants on Buna River

The Department of Urbanism and Construction of the City of Mostar rejected the request of the investor ‘Hercegovina građevinsko zanatstvo d.o.o. Branch of Renewable Resources Mostar ‘for issuing urban planning approval for the construction of two mini hydroelectric power plants Buna I and Buna II after claiming that the required site is located in the part of the Neretva River, which is declared a protected object of nature.

This construction company filed a request to Urbanism for issuing urban planning approval for the construction of two mini hydro power plants of 1800 kw in the area of Bacevic and Hodbina, whose design was the company ‘Habitat’ d.o.o. Mostar 2014.

However, the representatives of the villagers Buna and Blagaj and the coordination of a large number of different eco-associations, as well as the ecological association ‘Mother Flower’, submitted to the Department a request to oppose the required construction due to the damaging consequences that may arise for the owners of the surrounding area as well as to protect the natural resources of the area .

By the endowment of the representatives of the ‘Mother of the Flower’ Association, who repeatedly provided different documentation and requested the suspension of the procedure for issuing urban planning consent, stating, inter alia, that the requested site (Bunski kanali) is located in the part of the Neretva River Land declared by the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina protected nature, the beauty of this area will remain untouched, Biznis Info reports.
