During the past night, 13 people were evacuated as a precaution from the area of the Jablanica settlement of Zlate, due to the risk of flash floods and landslides.

“Most of them are elderly people, and one child is among the evacuees. They were placed in the sports center of Jablanica, which was prepared for reception yesterday. They were provided with food, water, medicine,” Azra Babić, a member of the Jablanica Municipal Civil Protection Staff, said in a statement to Fena.

She added that the current situation in the municipality is stable.

“It’s raining and there’s a strong wind, but we don’t have any major difficulties. There was a minor overflow of the stream onto local roads and small landslides. The situation is currently under control and we hope that the weather will not worsen,” said Babić.

In the Operational Center of Civil Protection in Jablanica, they say that the electricity supply is regular in all inhabited places. Civil protection teams are on the ground and monitoring the situation.

As a reminder, the Adriatic Sea Water Area Agency previously issued a warning due to the forecast of heavier rainfall expected in the next three days in part of the TMT floodplain (Tihaljina, Mlade, Trebižat) and the middle and lower Neretva with its tributaries.

The warning of the risk of flash floods and landslides applies to the municipalities and cities of Konjic, Jablanica, Mostar, Čapljina, Grude, Ljubuški, Široki Brijeg and Posušje, Fena news agency writes.
