The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, spoke in separate meetings in Washington, during a working visit to the United States, with Senator Christopher Murphy and the Vice President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Congresswoman Ann Wagner.

As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the meetings discussed the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its impact on our country and the region.

There was also talk about the indictment against the president of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who is charged with the criminal offense of failure to implement the decisions of the high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On that occasion, it was assessed that the positive developments and efforts made by BiH institutions on the European road, in the past nine months, are threatened by the moves of the RS authorities.

Senator Murphy and Congresswoman Wagner expressed their satisfaction with the new momentum in politics and diplomacy of the current BiH Council of Ministers, considering that in the USA, a quality role of BiH has been missing for a long time. diplomacy. They emphasized that they are therefore pleased with the visit of Minister Konaković and the delegation, which is an indication of a new and more serious approach to the diplomacy of our country.

The interlocutors announced an imminent visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and offered support and assistance to our country on its way to the EU.

When it comes to extending the mandate of the EUFOR Althea mission, they assessed that only joint efforts contribute to the creation of a safer and more stable environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the meeting, they also discussed the communities of Bosnians and Herzegovinians living in American states. It was emphasized that the minister’s visit to these communities would be significant in order to strengthen the ties between the diaspora and the homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Congresswoman Wagner and Senator Murphy are good connoisseurs of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Wagner comes from the Republican Party. She was elected to the House of Representatives of the US Congress for the first time in 2013. She was the proposer of the law that was adopted in the House of Representatives, in which the most important principles that should be followed by the American administration in its policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina are stated.

Senator Murphy is a strong voice in the Senate who has fought for job creation, affordable health care, education and a forward-looking foreign policy. He is the initiator of the resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Senate, and he visited our country last year, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
