Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Administration (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina seized a large amount of illegal tobacco and equipment for its production worth over 1,000,000 BAM in the “Market” operation in the Mostar Regional Center, Anadolu agency reports.

“A total of 4,838 kilograms (kg) of leaf tobacco prepared for cutting, 395 kg of cut tobacco, a tobacco cutting machine, two digital scales, and around 900 tobacco packaging bags were found and temporarily seized at two locations from two individuals,” the ITA BiH announced on Friday.

The statement added that there was no legally prescribed documentation for the seized goods, nor were the goods marked with excise stamps in the manner prescribed by law.

Legally prescribed measures and actions will be taken against the perpetrators of the identified illegalities.

The aim of the operational action “Market” implemented by the ITA is to detect, sanction and prevent criminal activities related to the prevention of illegal trade in tobacco and tobacco products.

The ITA BiH invites all citizens to report any form of illegal trade, tax or customs evasion to the ITA hotline number 080 02 06 07. All calls are free of charge and completely anonymous.
