Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaferovic, as well as a joint delegation of the Assembly and the Government of Canton Sarajevo laid flowers with the representatives of the Association of Parents of besieged Sarajevo and paid tribute at the Memorial to the killed children of besieged Sarajevo.
Namely, as part of the Sarajevo Canton Day, today (May 5) marks the Day of Remembrance of the killed children of Sarajevo as a memorial to all the killed children in the period from 1992 to 1995.
At that time, 1,601 children were killed during the siege in the BiH capital. On this occasion, Komsic said that there is no greater tragedy in human life than when a parent loses a child and that this kind of pain never passes.
“The obligation of the rest of us in the name of humanity is to join our parents on the day of such markings. It is difficult to be smart enough, wise
Dzaferovic said that today is a sad day and anniversary and that we will all remember with bitterness the murdered innocent children.
“One who does not remember this tragic event in some way calls for it to happen again one day. We must preserve the memory that such heinous crimes would never be repeated to anyone. You can imagine how dark the mind must be to devise, order and fire a grenade at playgrounds where children play, their schools and clinics “, Dzaferovic emphasized.
As he added, this is an opportunity to send a message to the whole world about what BiH faced during the aggression.
“This is a message to send a message to those who would like to divide BiH today, to finally remove their fingers from this state. When we try to divide BiH, then these are the consequences we remember today in Sarajevo, but also across the country.
“Every day we can remember those consequences, the mass crimes that eventually culminated in the genocide in Srebrenica,” Dzaferovic said, Klix.ba writes.
