Analysis of data on cross-border transport of non-hazardous waste in the period 2014-2018 showed increase amounts of six groups of waste (waste from combustion, metal scrap, waste paper and cardboard, textiles, rubber and plastic waste). For some types of waste recorder moderate decline.
The total amount of non-hazardous waste exported in 2018 amounted to 216.145 tones, which is 37.7% more than the previous year. Data on the exported quantities of non- hazardous waste in 2018 show a trend of gradual increase that caused increased exports of almost all waste groups.
Observing individual groups of waste, in 2018, the increased export of textile waste, non-hazardous slag and as, metal scrap. Exports of waste paper and cardboard, plastic waste, glass waste and rubber waste kept the trend of gradual decline.
The total amount of imported non-hazardous waste in 2018 amounted to 19.905 tones, which is 9.1% less than the previous year. Analysis of data on the import of non- hazardous waste for the period 2014-2018 indicates a trend of continuous decrease of the amount of plastic waste and metal waste during the reference period, while import of paper and cardboard, textile waste, non-hazardous slag and as and rubber waste kept trend growth during reference period.
Analysis of data on exports of scrap metal in the period 2014- 2018 indicates a general increase in exported quantities. In 2018 there was growth in exports, the quantity of exported waste was 5.4% higher compared to 2017. During 2018 of total quantity of exported metallic waste 37% of scrap metal are exported to Turkey.
Analysis of data on exports of glass waste in the period 2014- 2018 indicates a general increase in exported quantities. In 2018 there was a decline in exports, the quantity of exported waste was 33.1 % less compared to 2017. During 2018, the biggest amount of waste glass was exported to Croatia.
Analysis of data on exports of textile waste in the period 2014-2018 indicates increase in exported quantities. In 2018 there was a decline in exports, the quantity of exported waste was 30% higher compared to 2017. During 2018, the biggest amount of textile waste was exported to Italy.
Analysis of data on exports of waste paper and cardboard in the period 2014-2018 shows increase in exported quantities. In 2018 there was a decline in exports, the quantity of exported waste was 15% less compared to 2017. During 2018, of the total exported quantity of waste paper and cardboard waste, 38% of waste paper and cardboard was exported to Republic of Serbia.
In 2018 there was a decline in exports, the quantity of exported waste was 33.7% less compared to 2017. During 2018, of total exported quantity, 56% of rubber waste was exported to Germany.
In 2018, the quantity of imported plastic waste was less by 47% compared to 2017. During 2018, of total imported quantity, 49% of plastic waste was imported from Croatia, BiH’s Agency for Statistics reported.
