Bijambare are an area protected by law. This picnic site is located on the road Sarajevo – Tuzla, along the border of the Nišićka plateau, between the villages Nišići and Krivajevići. Administratively, Bijambare belong to the Ilijaš Municipality.

Bijambare extend over 370 hectares of area and include a dense coniferous forest, meadows, numerous karst phenomena such as sinkholes and chasms of two creeks, and six caves. The largest cave is called the Main Bijambare cave, the Middle Bijambare cave or simply Bijamare. This cave is 420 meters long and consists of four hallways, the last one of them being the largest one and called “the concert hall”. Remains of the cave man, tools for stone processing, and remains of some animals were found in the Upper Bijambare cave.

The Middle Bijambare cave is a special geological reserve, while the Upper Bijambare cave is a paleontological monument of nature.
