Significant Increase in Tourists Arrivals in BiH in the first Seven Months

In the period from January – July 2019 tourists realized 906,788 tourists arrivals which represent the increase by 11.7% and 1,878,023 overnight stays which is increased by 11.1% as compared to the same period of 2018.

The number of domestic tourist nights increased by 6.8% and the number of foreign tourist nights increased by 12.9% as compared to the same period of 2018. Domestic tourist’s share of a total number of overnight stays was 28.5% and foreign tourists share was 71.5%.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights, most of them (61.3%) were realized by tourists from Croatia (13.5%), Serbia (9.3%), Saudi Arabia (7.2%), Slovenia (5.2%), China (4.8%), Germany and Turkey (each by 4.7%), Italy (4,5%), Poland (3.8%) and United Arab Emirates (3.6%). Tourists from other countries realized 38.7% of tourist nights.

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays, on the first place comes Kuwait with an average stay of 3.4 nights, Ireland with 3.1 nights and Bahrein, Island, Latvia, United Arab Emirates, Estonia and Ukraine by 2.9 nights.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with share of 92.4%, BiH Agency for Statistics reported on Monday.
