Tourist Overnight Stays in Bosnia and Herzegovina 6.6 Percent Higher in January

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in January 2026, tourists recorded 102,600 arrivals, which is 13.2 percent lower compared to December 2025, but 1.9 percent higher compared to January 2025.

Tourists recorded 252,867 overnight stays in Bosnia and Herzegovina in January, which is 6.6 percent higher compared to December 2025, and 6.7 percent higher compared to January 2025. In the structure of total overnight stays, domestic tourists accounted for 33 percent, while foreign tourists accounted for 67 percent.

The number of overnight stays by domestic tourists in January 2026 decreased by 8.6 percent compared to December 2025, but increased by 8.4 percent compared to January 2025.

The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 16.2 percent in January compared to December 2025, and by 5.9 percent compared to January 2025, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the largest share was recorded by tourists from Croatia (37.3 percent), followed by Serbia (17 percent), Türkiye (8.4 percent), and Montenegro (6.4 percent).

They were followed by tourists from Slovenia (5.9 percent), Germany (2.8 percent), Austria (2.1 percent), and China and Italy (1.6 percent each). These countries account for 83.1 percent of the total number of overnight stays by foreign tourists, while the remaining 16.9 percent were recorded by tourists from other countries.

In January 2026, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina had 19,685 rooms, apartments, and camping places available, with a total capacity of 44,396 beds. The number of available accommodation units was 2.2 percent lower compared to January 2025, while the number of beds decreased by 2.4 percent compared to the same month in 2025.
