Tourist Season was never better, Arabs stay for the longest Time

tourists (1)According to data of the tourist offices in B&H, 2015 is one of the best years when it comes to the number of visits, overnight stays and spending of tourist.

In previous years, tourism became especially important segment of economic development of B&H. Our country has become a very popular touristic destination for tourists from all over the world. There are a few especially popular cities, such as Sarajevo, Mostar, Bihac, Banja Luka and Visegrad.

Tourism Association of Sarajevo Canton states that they have stopped talking about the beginning or the end of the tourist season. Simply because, due to the numerous offers, the season lasts throughout the whole year.

“All sectors of tourism are included in Sarajevo, from the spa and health, adventure, winter tourism to the most expressed cultural and historical tourism. For the first 9 months of this year, the largest number of tourists came from Turkey, then Croatia, Slovenia, South Korea and Serbia. After that most of the tourists are coming from Germany, USA, Italy, Kuwait and Austria, “said spokesperson of the Tourism Association of Sarajevo Canton, Asja Hadziefendic-Mesic.

Particular contribution to the extension of the tourist season give tourists from Arab countries. According to the tourist workers, they are guests who stay longer than the average and spend the most. By the number of overnight stays among the top five countries are tourists from Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. They stay from 5 to 7 days in average, as opposed to the guests from South Korea who stay only one night.

“We had a significant number of tourists from Kuwait before, but the establishment of direct airline Dubai-Sarajevo this year contributed to an increased number of tourists from the UAE. That is the reason why we expected increased number of tourists from these countries. In the first 9 months this year we had a total of 5,450 tourists from UAE. The fact that we had 872 tourists from the UAE for the whole year of 2014 speaks enough about how establishing of this airline contributed to increase of the number of tourists, “said Hadziefendic-Mesic.
