The planned suspensions of traffic on the main road from Mostar to Capljina will greatly hinder the arrival of organized tourist groups that plan to visit this tourist pearl.
Today, Klix.ba team found tourists from Belgium and the Netherlands who visited this medieval town with two buses as part of a seven-day visit to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Silvana Suljak, who is their tourist guide from Croatia, says that all visitors to this place absolutely enjoy it and that she is already worried about how they will organize the visits to Pocitelj that they have planned until the end of the season.
The problem is the interval of closing the road, because a lot of guests who sleep in Mostar leave around 8:30 from the hotel. It is impossible for them to be in Pocitelj until 9 o’clock, they need at least 45 minutes, and these guests should have breakfast. As for the guests leaving Croatia, they are there around 10 am. Which means that the interval could be moved. As for the afternoon interval, it would be good if the road is 3 to 5, ” Suljak told Klix.ba.
She adds that tourists in Pocitelj mostly spend more than an hour, in order to see all the historic buildings and refresh themselves with some of the local products in the town, convinced that the traffic regime in the heart of the tourist season will cause great damage to the place problems with travel agencies that Pocitelj included in their arrangements for tourists.
The residents of Pocitelj were also dissatisfied and announced protests for today in order to express their dissatisfaction with the suspension of traffic.
They claim that they were not involved in making such a decision and that this tourist pearl will suffer great losses. It should be reminded that the suspension of traffic was announced on this important road from May 23 to August 16, 2022 due to works on the construction of the access road from M-17 at the Pocitelj junction of Corridor Vc, within the construction of the Pocitelj – Zvirovici subsection, as well as its connection to this road. The traffic was not stopped today, and as we were told by BIHAMK, it was extended for tomorrow and will be carried out at three intervals a day, from 9 am to 12:15 pm, from 1:15 pm to 3 pm, and from 5 pm to 5 pm 7pm, except Sundays and public holidays.
