Tourists from 88 Countries Visited Canton Sarajevo in March

Sarajevo faktor.baIn March 2015, Canton Sarajevo was visited by 21,013 tourists, which is 8.8 percent more than in March last year. Tourists have made 39,579 overnight stays, which is 9.3 percent more compared to the same period in 2014.

Of total tourist arrivals, 75.9 percent of arrivals were foreign tourists, and 24.1 percent were domestic tourists. Most foreign tourists came from Croatia (25.4 percent), Turkey (8.9 percent), Serbia (8.6 percent), Slovenia (5.6 percent), and South Korea (5.2 percent). The share of foreign tourists in the total number of overnight stays is 79.3 percent, and domestic tourists’ is 20.7 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Croatia (21.1 percent), Turkey (10.4 percent), Serbia (7.5 percent), USA (5.3 per cent) and Slovenia (5.2 percent). The average stay of tourists in March 2015 was 1.8 nights, according to the data of the Tourist Board of the Sarajevo Canton.

Tourists from following countries stayed the longest: Kuwait 4.3; Bahrain 4.3; Denmark 4.1; Qatar 3.5; Belgium 3.1; USA 3.0.

Canton Sarajevo was visited by tourists from 88 countries in March 2015. Utilization of accommodation facilities was 31.3 percent in terms of room occupancy, or 14.5 per cent in terms of bed occupancy.
