Outgoing US President Joseph Biden and President-elect Donald Trump have entered the US Capitol building in Washington, where the inauguration of the new president will take place.
Outgoing US First Lady Jill Biden, new First Lady Melania Trump, outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris and new Vice President James David Vance also entered the Capitol.
Biden told reporters that he had written a letter to President-elect Trump.
When asked by reporters what the letter said before entering the White House with Trump, he said that it was “a matter between the two of them.”
It is a tradition in the US for the outgoing president to hand the new president a letter in which he encourages, encourages and advises him before officially taking office, writes “CBS News”.
Numerous famous figures from American political and business life are present at the Capitol.
Among those present at the inauguration, which is being held indoors this year due to the cold, are American entrepreneur and head of the new government spending control department Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Facebook and Target founder Mark Zuckerberg, former US Vice President Michael Pence, and former US President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary, as well as former President Barack Obama.
Other members of the Trump family also entered the Capitol.
The inauguration ceremony began at 6:00 p.m.
