US President-elect Donald Trump will sign 11 executive orders, including one authorizing the deployment of US troops to the border, Fox News reports.
According to US media, Trump will immediately order the federal government to continue building the border wall, end the Biden-era parole policy and reinstate the so-called stay-in-Mexico policy, under which asylum seekers were forced to wait in dangerous border cities while their applications were processed.
Trump will order that US troops be deployed to the border under the US Northern Command “prioritizing our borders and territorial integrity in the strategic planning of their operations”, according to Fox.
Trump will order, according to media reports, that international cartels be designated as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) and specially designated global terrorists (SDGTs), which will allow for targeted action against members, including financial penalties.
It is expected that some of these executive orders will be announced by Trump during his inaugural address, and others during the signing at the White House.
