Members of the BiH Presidency talked with Minister Truss about the overall bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom. The topic of conversation was the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Western Balkans region, and the rest of Europe. All three members of the Presidency of BiH presented their views on the situation in BiH, but also the role of Great Britain in BiH.
Minister Truss emphasized the United Kingdom’s commitment to peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans. In order to improve the security and economic partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the region, Minister Truss announced, in cooperation with partners, the mobilization of investments in the region. These investments are planned to strengthen the partnership and support the stability and prosperity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the entire region. This is especially true for strengthening the infrastructure and energy sector. As part of an ongoing commitment to progress and peace in the region, the UK Government has appointed Sir Stuart Peach, who is already visiting BiH, as Special Envoy for the Western Balkans.
Members of the BiH Presidency stressed the importance of investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which contributes to strengthening the economic sector, as a key factor in building a prosperous future in the country, and in that context expressed gratitude to the UK Government for the announced investments.
