POTPISAN UGOVOR ZA TUNEL „KARAULA“A contract for the reconstruction works on the project “Tunnel Karaula” on the road M-18, Šićki Brod-Sarajevo, section Kladanj-Potpaklenik was signed today at the public company Ceste FB&H in Sarajevo.

FB&H Minister of Transport and Communication Enver Bijedić after the contract signing expressed his satisfaction for participation in the creation of the project “Tunnel Karaula”.

“I think that this way we will contribute greatly to shorten the road between Tuzla and Sarajevo and to enable faster movement of people and goods”, said Bijedić.

He pointed out that on that part of the road between Tuzla and Sarajevo nothing has been done in regards to modernization for the past 50 years, and he added that the driving conditions during the winter due to the ice and snow have been very difficult.

Director of Strabag for civil engineering Josip Kuzmanović said that they are ready to face all the challenges in the construction of this tunnel.

With the construction of this tunnel, bridges and routes, the existing section will shorten for 3.6 kilometers, and the highest point will lower for 120 meters. This project plans the routes for slow vehicles as well.

The length of the tunnel on Karaula is 902 meters and the deadline for the construction works is 9 months and the agreed price is 24.25 million BAM.
