In the Balkans there are 4.280 properties of the Ottoman sultan Abdulhamid the Second from the period between 1869 and 1908. This claim was made by the Director of the Turkish directorate for cadastral affairs Zeynel Abidin Turkoglu.
Property records of 7.756 real estate of the sultan at the territory of Anatolia, Middle East and the Balkans are being kept in the archive of the Turkish directorate for cadastral affairs.
It is stated that Turkoglu said that there are three registers of active and passive property of the sultan in directorate’s archive.
In the Balkans, there are 2.843 properties in Greece, 1.424 in Albania, eight in Bulgaria and five in Macedonia.
After the death of the sultan in 1918, some properties were handed over to the Turkish national treasury.
