Peace talks on Ukraine could start this winter, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today, as his country holds the presidency of the European Union since January 1.
Tusk, an ally of neighboring Ukraine, said he would hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later in the day and welcome French President Emmanuel Macron to Poland on Thursday.
“Our presidency will be responsible, among other things, for what the political landscape will be, what the situation will be perhaps during the (peace) negotiations which, although still questionable, could start this winter,” Tusk said.
