The Federal Minister of Transport and Communications, Andrijana Katic, held a meeting on November 27th in Mostar with the management of Tuzla International Airport, at which they discussed key challenges, planned investments, and the future development of this airport.
The general director of the airport, Dzevad Halilcevic, and the president of the Supervisory Board, Bahrija Umihanic, presented to the minister the current state of operations, with a special focus on infrastructure needs and measures for improving operational efficiency. It was emphasized that the airport, despite challenges, is recording stable development and is working on the improvement of safety standards.
One of the main topics were the planned capital projects that will enable the introduction of the ILS CAT III system, which represents the highest level of security equipment in civil aviation. This investment would enable the airport to meet strict world standards, especially in conditions of reduced visibility.
Cooperation with airlines was also discussed, especially with the company Wizz Air, with which new contracts were recently signed. According to the plan, the first Wizz Air aircraft returns to Tuzla already in December this year, while the arrival of the second is planned for March 2026. This move should significantly strengthen the summer network and increase the number of passengers.
It was also confirmed that funds have been secured for incentives for airlines for each passenger brought, which should additionally stabilize and improve air traffic in the coming period.
Minister Katic emphasized the full support of the Federal Ministry to the development of Tuzla Airport and pointed out the readiness to continue joint work on projects that strengthen connectivity and contribute to the economic development of the country, it was stated in the announcement of the Federal Ministry.
