Two masked men broke into the British royal Windsor Castle last month and stole two vehicles from the stables, The Sun newspaper reported on Monday.

King Charles and his wife Camilla were not at the estate at the time of the incident, but Prince William and his family are believed to have been at Adelaide Cottage, part of the Windsor Castle estate.

The men used a stolen truck to break through a security gate at night and then climbed a 6-foot-high fence, the newspaper reported.

Local police said officers were called to reports of a break-in at the Crown Estate in Windsor, west of London, shortly before midnight on Oct. 13.

“The perpetrators entered the administration building and fled in a black Isuzu pickup truck and a red quad bike. They then fled towards the Old Windsor/Datchet area,” Thames Valley Police said in an emailed statement.

“There have been no arrests at this stage and the investigation is ongoing,” the police added.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.

Windsor Castle previously faced a security incident in 2021 when authorities arrested a man with a crossbow at the castle who said he wanted to kill Queen Elizabeth, Reuters reported.
