Corruption CCUSAt the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (CCUS) were successfully performed two cadaveric transplantations (organ transplant from a deceased person to a living person) on older patients. Surgical procedures were performed thanks to the successful coordination of clinical centers in Sarajevo and Tuzla and the hospital in Zenica, as announced from the CCUS.

In performing these very demanding surgeries participated a large team of doctors, who were ready to intervene soon after receiving information that there is an organ donor.

“After receiving information from the Center for Transplantation which operates in the Ministry of Health of FBiH, we formed teams of doctors and contacted with patients, as well as the Clinical Center in Tuzla and Zenica hospital, where the explantation of organs was performed. The surgical procedure was successful, and the first postoperative indicators are very good,” said the Head of the Department of Nephrology, Prof. Dr. Senija Rasic.

Dr. Rasic expressed gratitude to Director General of the CCUS Prof. Dr. Sebija Izetbegovic, who gives full support to the development of transplantation medicine in the CCUS, and all other branches of medicine in order to provide better health services to our patients.

“I would particularly note the fact that Zenica stepped out with the number of donor organs, and we sincerely hope that other cities will follow this example,” said Dr. Rasic.

The Director of surgical disciplines, Prof. Dr. Dzelaludin Junuzovic said that the Clinical Centre in Sarajevo is working on the revitalization and promotion of transplantation medicine and that these two transplants are the best proof for that.

“Our goal is to preserve and improve the health of all of our patients, and we are constantly working on professional development and upgrading, in all fields. The two cadaveric surgeries, which we’ve done in coordination with colleagues from the Clinical Center Tuzla and Zenica, thanks to the excellent and prompt attention of all of us went in the best way possible,” said Dr. Junuzovic, as said in the statement of the CCUS.
