U.S. Counselor Chollet first postponed his Visit to BiH, and now he has canceled it entirely

Counselor of the United States (U.S.) Department of State, Derek Chollet, planned a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)at the beginning of the month. However, the visit to our country was cancelled, and the reasons are unknown.

Chollet planned to visit North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, BiH, Croatia and Belgium in early December 2022.

Unfortunately, not long after making it official that he would visit our region, Chollet shared the news that due to a positive COVID test, he had to postpone his travels for the beginning of the new year.

Now, after the results of the coronavirus are negative and he can travel, Chollet has announced a diplomatic visit to countries whose list, however, does not include BiH.

As announced on the official website of the State Department, he will visit North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Chollet was supposed to meet with members of the BiH Presidency and, as he said, “to confirm American support for the continuation of efforts to create a functional, sustainable, multi-ethnic state.” He also pointed out that BiH is among the “most sensitive countries” and that as such it enjoys the support of NATO, primarily due to the negative influence of Russia.

However, it is not known why BiH was left out of the new list of countries that this U.S. Counselor plans to visit.
