UN: China presented a Plan for the Middle East

On Wednesday evening, in the United Nations Security Council, China presented a four-point peace plan for the Middle East, which, among other things, foresees the formation of a Palestinian state.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the conflict in Gaza points to the urgent need for the formation of a Palestinian state.

“We need to resolutely renew the political possibilities of the two-state solution. The absence of a Palestinian state is the cause of constant problems in Palestinian-Israeli relations,” Wang said, according to the AP agency.

He pointed out that Israel established an independent state a long time ago and that the Jews are no longer without a home, but that the Palestinians’ right to statehood, existence and return has been ignored for too long.

“The fairness and justice of the Palestinian issue lies in the two-state solution,” Wang added.

US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that Washington and its allies in the Middle East are trying to help calm the conflict.

She stated that the sixth day of the humanitarian pause in the conflict in Gaza would not have been possible without the leadership of Qatar, Egypt and the US, Srna reports.
