Nearly 600 children have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since last month, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said today.

Citing figures released by the UN children’s agency (UNICEF), UNRWA said more than 1,600 children have been injured since Israel resumed its attacks on March 18.

“The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is now probably at its worst since October 2023,” it added.

The Israeli military resumed its deadly offensive in the Gaza Strip on March 18 and has since killed 1,864 people and wounded nearly 4,900 despite a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that came into effect in January.

More than 51,200 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the brutal Israeli attacks that have been ongoing since October 2023.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over the war in the enclave.
