The United Nations (UN) Security Council held, at the request of Slovenia, closed-door consultations on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and all members confirmed the importance of the Dayton Peace Agreement, supported the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and called for political dialogue.

All members confirmed the importance of preserving BiH as a multiethnic democracy, said Slovenian Ambassador to the UN Samuel Žbogar, who proposed the consultations on behalf of his country due to the current situation in BiH.

“All participants in the consultations took the floor and expressed concern about the escalation of the political crisis, calling for calm and political dialogue,” Žbogar said.

According to him, the situation in BiH is worrying and it is right for the UN Security Council to take note of it, STA reports.

“I do not think there is a security crisis in that country, but there is a political crisis and we mentioned that during the consultations,” Žbogar said.
