The UN Security Council observed a minute of silence in honor of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage, who died in a helicopter crash.

Chairman of the UN Security Council, Ambassador of Mozambique Pedro Comisario Alfonso, at the beginning of the session on the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, asked the members to observe a minute of silence in memory of Raisi and the other members of his team who died in yesterday’s accident.

After that, the presentation of the permanent Russian representative to the UN, Vasilij Nebenzja, began.

The helicopter carrying Raisi crashed yesterday in the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan.

In the helicopter were members of the delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amirabdolahian.

A total of eight people died in the accident.
