UN Women announced that twice as many women were killed by conflict in 2023 than the year before.

In the latest report entitled “Women, peace and security”, it is pointed out that the consequences of wars and conflicts on women and girls are increasing.

The number of women killed in armed conflicts in 2023 doubled compared to 2022, according to the report.

“Women continue to pay the price for men’s wars,” said UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous, whose remarks are included in the report.

She pointed out that an “all-out war” is being waged against women.

The report notes that women’s access to health care in war zones is also limited.

It is emphasized that 500 women and girls die every day in conflict-affected countries due to problems related to pregnancy and childbirth, and that 180 women in the Gaza Strip give birth every day without basic conditions and health care.

The report states that nine out of ten women in the Gaza Strip have difficulty accessing food compared to men, and that 84 percent of women can consume half of the food they ate before October 7, 2023.

The report points out that the situation in Gaza has had a major impact, especially on women, and states that 14 percent of civilians killed before October 7 were women.

The report points out that two-thirds of the civilians killed after October 7 were women and children, and that more than 3,000 women were left without husbands in the Gaza Strip.
