At today’s session, the Senate of the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) passed a conclusion giving consent to Rector Rifat Škrijelj, as the person authorized to represent UNSA, to carry out the administrative measure determined by the decision of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs (KUIP), i.e. to cancel the doctorate of Sebija Izetbegović.

Thirty members of the Senate voted for the decision, six abstained, and two were against.

Škrijelj told reporters that he did not want to fulfill the request of the Faculty of Medicine of UNS to file an appeal against the decision of KUIP.

“I simply have no arguments for an appeal. This is a difficult topic that UNSA has been dealing with since 2021, and intensively for the past few months,” said Škrijelj.

A few days ago, the UNSA Faculty of Medicine asked the rector to file an appeal against the decision of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, which he refused.

As the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Amina Valjevac, stated after the session, Sebija Izetbegović no longer teaches at the Faculty of Medicine, and her employment is decided by the rector as employer.
