The United States of America (US) has asked Israel to postpone its ground operation in the Gaza Strip. It is not yet known what Israel’s response to the request will be.

The US has expressed strong support for Israel in its fight against the Palestinian group Hamas following the attack seven days ago, but also expressed concern about the humanitarian situation of the more than two million residents of Gaza.

UN: More than 400,000 Palestinians internally displaced

More than 400,000 Palestinians have been internally displaced in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli airstrikes, the United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced today.

“Most people do not have access to clean drinking water after being supplied through the water network, and the work of water purification plants has stopped,” the statement said, adding:

“As a last resort, people consume brackish water (a mixture of seawater and ordinary water) from agricultural wells, which raises serious concerns about the spread of water-borne diseases.”

During the night, Israeli forces carried out fierce attacks on Gaza

Israeli forces continued heavy air and artillery attacks on the blockaded Gaza Strip during the past night.

Anatolia’s reporter team reports that Israeli forces targeted all regions of Gaza last night as well, and that several people were killed and wounded in the attacks.

Gaza has been targeted by Israeli warships, artillery and aircraft.

Among the targets of Israeli attacks last night were some of the most densely populated regions of Gaza, including Jibaliye refugee camp, Beit Lahiye and Nusayrat refugee camp.

Thousands of Palestinians took refuge in the largest hospital in Gaza

In the wake of Israeli air and artillery attacks, about 35,000 Palestinians took refuge in Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, said the director of that institution, Mohamed Abu Slima.

Pointing out that the population is in complete panic and fear, Abu Slim said that families have set up their tents in the medical complex.

Israel hit a Hezbollah target in southern Lebanon

The Israeli military announced today that it hit a Hezbollah target in southern Lebanon in response to what it said were unidentified aerial objects infiltrating Israel and shooting down an Israeli drone.

The army intercepted the facilities, the statement said.

It was also announced that a group that tried to infiltrate Israel from Lebanon was neutralized, RIA reports.

“Soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently identified a terrorist cell that tried to infiltrate from Lebanon into the territory of Israel. An IDF drone targeted the terrorist cell and killed a large number of terrorists,” the army announced on Telegram.
