The Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in BiH responded to an inquiry from Klix.ba regarding the alleged U.S. stance on the participation of the Party for BiH (SBiH) in the government. They stated that the formation of government is decided by elected representatives in BiH, and that media reports suggesting U.S. influence on this process are “completely untrue.”
We reached out to the Embassy after HMS, citing unofficial sources, reported that the U.S. opposes the inclusion of the Party for BiH (SBiH) in the government – primarily due to the party’s positions regarding the “Southern Interconnection” project.
We asked the Embassy to clarify whether these claims were accurate, whether it held a position on the Party for BiH’s participation in government in relation to the Southern Interconnection, and what the official U.S. government stance is regarding the role of this project in the formation of government.
The Public Affairs Office responded by stating that the formation of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina is determined by elected representatives, and that any reports suggesting the U.S. is attempting to influence this process are completely untrue.
The Embassy added that it remains committed to the realization of the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline project, with the goal of strengthening BiH’s energy security.
