The United States Embassy condemned yesterday’s insults and threats against High Representative Christian Schmidt at a rally in Banja Luka.
“The United States supports freedom of speech and peaceful assembly. Apparently, most of the citizens who gathered in Banja Luka for the so-called ‘Freedom’ protest responsibly respected those rights. Unfortunately, it is clear from the video that others did not, including those who threatened violence against the High Representative, “the official Twitter profile of the US Embassy in BiH said.
They say that whatever the opinion of the High Representative, threats of violence against him in any form, including a song, are offensive and unjustified.
“The right reaction of a mature and responsible political leader when confronted with such behavior is to condemn and take steps to stop it, not allow it,” the US Embassy in BiH said.
