The U.S. Embassy to BiH welcomes today’s decision from the Appeals Chamber of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals affirming the conviction of Ratko Mladić.

The verdict, as stated on the official Twitter account of the embassy, is an important step towards holding to account all individuals responsible for the tremendous suffering of the people during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will bring justice to the victims and their families in the future.

They called on all parties in BiH to respect the court’s verdict and rededicate themselves to the continued reconciliation and peaceful coexistence essential to the future of a stable, secure Bosnia and Herzegovina that safeguards the rights of all its citizens.
