USA Ambassador to BiH spoke on America’s Priorities

Ambassador of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Eric Nelson held a press conference in Sarajevo on Thursday, saying that the USA remains a guarantor of BiH’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“The priority of all priorities will be to help BiH progress towards the achievement of the set goals for NATO membership and the European Union. It is clear, however, that there are additional divisions in BiH which are not in line with its goal of membership in these organizations,” Nelson said, adding that the further division of BiH would be a direct obstacle to country’s prosperity in the future.

He emphasized that country mostly needs brave leaders which will lead the country to the future, and that empty promises and mere rhetoric would become even more useless.

“The United States will continue to stand beside those who are working on achieving progress, since weak economy and high unemployment rate undermine stability. Endemic corruption hampers productivity, discourages foreign investors, and pushes the most talented and ambitious people to leave the country,” said Nelson.

Nelson added that the USA will continue to help BiH to improve the work of law enforcement agencies, increase security at borders, combat terrorism and violent extremism, as well as against foreign influences that prevent the country’s progress.
