FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić held a meeting with representatives of USAID and the USAID Energy Policy Activity (USAID EPA), which was led by Ankica Gavrilović, USAID BiH project management expert.

Gavrilović thanked for the extraordinary cooperation with the FBiH Ministry and emphasized that USAID, through the USAID EPA project, provides technical assistance to institutions and companies in the electric power and natural gas sectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina in drafting regulations in order to regulate these sectors in accordance with the best standards and EU rules.

The officials discussed the activities carried out within the framework of this project, and special emphasis was placed on the set of laws from the energy sector in FBiH.

These are proposals for laws on energy and regulation of energy activities in the FBiH, on electricity in the FBiH, then on the law on the gas pipeline “Southern interconnection of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia”, and on the use of renewable energy sources and efficient cogeneration.

Minister Lakić emphasized the commitment of the line ministry for the adoption and application of these laws as soon as possible, as well as the desire to continue cooperation with the technical assistance of USAID on the improvement of the energy sector reform, both at the level of the Federation and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Director of the USAID EPA project, Mak Kamenica, also presented other activities that are being successfully implemented with the FBiH Ministry, such as the preparation of the Law on Gas of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and amendments to the Law on Energy Efficiency, the FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry announced.
