A member of the Champion Karate Club from Ilidža, Vedad Mujić achieved incredible success at the World Championship for Cadets, Juniors, and Under-21 Competitors. He won a bronze medal in the Polish city of Bielsko-Biała.
Mujić secured his medal in the under-21 (U21) category, specifically in the kumite under-67 kg division. With this performance, he showed his full potential on the greatest global stage for young karate athletes during the tournament held from October 14 to October 18, 2026.
On his path to the semi-finals, the young competitor from Bosnia and Herzegovina showed excellent form and clear confidence. He first recorded victories against representatives of Aruba (5:0), Venezuela (7:0), and Italy (8:6). After that, he defeated a competitor from Switzerland with a score of 4:2, which secured him a spot among the four best fighters in the world in his category.
In a tight and highly competitive semifinal match, Mujić lost to the representative of Moldova with a narrow score of 15:14. In today’s match for the world bronze, the KK Champion athlete stayed calm and focused. He defeated Morocco’s Samir Sadini 5:3, proving that he belongs among the top young athletes representing Bosnia and Herzegovina internationally.
“The bronze medal from the World Championship represents an incredible result, not only for Vedad Mujić and the Champion Karate Club, but also for the sport of karate in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Reaching a world podium in an extremely strong international competition is confirmation of the dedication, discipline, sacrifice, and quality that Vedad possesses,” said coach Denis Muhović.
Unfortunately, Mujić’s club and national team colleague Harun Smajić (U21 +84kg) could not repeat Mujić’s success. At the same time, their national team colleagues Ali Arnautović and Sanjin Hukara also missed their chance to reach the podium after losing their bronze medal matches.
“Results like these carry great importance because they give other young athletes motivation to keep going on their path. They also confirm that our competitors, through quality work and proper support, can compete equally with the best in the world,” emphasized Muhović.
This achievement brings great recognition to Vedad Mujić and the Champion Karate Club, which competed at this World Championship with as many as six athletes, the club announced.
