Vietnam has become the 10th partner country of BRICS, the Brazilian government announced.
“As the interim chairman of BRICS, the Brazilian government announces the formal admission of Vietnam as a partner country,” the press release said.
The Brazilian government welcomed the decision, Brazilian media reported.
Brazil leads the organization this year and will chair the Summit from July 6 to 7, RIA Novosti reported.
BRICS is an intergovernmental association founded in 2006.
In addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, the group has been joined by Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
