owen jenkinsAhead of the Peace Implementation Council meeting this week, Owen Jenkins, Head of Western Balkans and Enlargement Department at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, held meetings with several political party leaders in Sarajevo.

Discussing the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr Jenkins said:
“The terrible events of the last week make investment in BiH even more important. I look forward to next week’s Forum on Prosperity and Jobs in Bosnia and Herzegovina which will focus on those changes needed to create jobs and drive economic growth in the country.

EU countries have sent a clear message after the Foreign Affairs Committee in April on the focus of their work with Bosnia and Herzegovina which places economy and growth on the top of the list of priorities.

The EU member states are willing to work with and support those parties and governments who will be ready to make difficult decisions and implement necessary reforms that will take Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to the EU accession.”
