Visit the City where you can stand along the River and See Croatia

brckoBrčko is a city located in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina and lies on the Sava River, which borders Croatia. You can stand along the Sava in Brčko and see Croatia just across the river.

Brčko is also close to the Serbian border, so you can guess that this city is filled not only with Bosnians, but Serbs and Croats as well – just like the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Brčko is an underrated city, but has so much to offer.

Its name is very likely linked to the Breuci, an Illyrian tribe inhabiting the area in antiquity.

While you are in Brcko, there are several interesting touristic spots to be seen such as: the fountain, art gallery and Carsija.

The fountain of youth is a symbol of the city (with the Town Hall) and is located at the Square of the young. Original name is “Fontana Mladosti”.

Former main bookstore for wider area “Veselin Masleša” and place where was store named “Samoizbor”, is after reconstruction become main city art gallery in Brčko District.

Čaršija (pers. čehar are tur. čarsu) is the market. This was the commercial center of the town in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Ottoman rule. The basic elements of are mosques, shops and fountain.

There are many successful people who were born in Brcko, some of them are: Edo Maajka, rapper, Lepa Brena, singer, Mladen Petrić, footballer, Dženana Šehanović, pianist, Jasmin Imamović, politician and Mato Tadić judge.
