Visit of Romanian High-Level Delegation to EUFOR

EUFOR had the honour of hosting the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Mr. Radu-Dinel Miruță, Chief of Defence of Romania, General Gheorghiță Vlad, the Ambassador of Romania in Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Mr. Anton Päcuretu, during their official visit to Camp Butmir in Sarajevo on 10 April 2026.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, who expressed his appreciation for Romania’s continued and valuable contribution to Operation ALTHEA.

During the visit, Major General Fronda provided an overview of the current security landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting EUFOR’s ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment. The discussions also focused on the importance of strong partnerships and the collective commitment of contributing nations in ensuring stability across the country.

A key moment of the visit was the engagement with Romanian personnel serving within EUFOR. Major General Fronda commended their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment, recognizing their important role in supporting the mission’s objectives on the ground.

The visit underscored Romania’s steadfast support to EUFOR and reaffirmed the shared commitment to peace, security, and cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
