The Majlis of the Islamic Community of Vlasenica marks the 33rd anniversary of the suffering in the Sušica camp, one of the symbols of the suffering of Bosniaks during 1992.

On this occasion, a traditional march was organized today, during which a visit to the Ogradice mass grave was also organized. The central commemoration program will be held in front of the camp itself with speeches by the president of the MIZ Vlasenica, the Association of Women Victims – Victims of War, the Alliance of Camp Inmates of BiH and the Islamic Community. The commemoration will end in front of the Rakita Memorial Complex in Vlasenica.

We would like to remind you that, according to available data, around 8,000 Bosniaks from the Vlasenica municipality passed through the Sušica camp in the period April – September 1992. More than 1,600 prisoners lost their lives in the camp.

The camp commander, Dragan Nikolić, was convicted of these crimes before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Nikolić died in 2018.

Predrag Bastah and Goran Višković were also sentenced by the Court of BiH. Several trials are ongoing before the Court of BiH for war crimes committed in this area.
