Vucic: An Attack on Serbia Cannot Be Ruled Out, Drone Factory to Open Next Year

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that, given the environment in which it finds itself, the possibility of an attack on the territory of Serbia and the Serbian people cannot be ruled out, and that it is therefore necessary to continue to arm heavily in order to make the army as strong as possible.

“They did not form military alliances without reason – unnatural, unprincipled and rude – they formed them for Serbia. That is why we must be vigilant, strong, powerful; we must not allow ourselves to be surprised and attacked without having the possibility of a proper response,” Vučić said during the laying of the foundation stone for the building of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff in the Banjica barracks, not far from the Military Medical Academy.

He stressed that peace is the most important priority for Serbia and that investments in defense will continue. He also announced the opening of the first drone factory in Serbia, in March or April, with a foreign partner, so that production will be in Serbia.

Speaking about the new buildings, he said they will cover a whopping 50,000 square meters and will be completed by 2028.
