Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke on Monday by phone with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, about the situation in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

Vucic announced on his Instagram profile that he had a very good and substantive conversation with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“I informed Minister Lavrov, as a representative of a United Nations (UN) member state, that Pristina, in violation of all international public law acts, is attempting to ban the Serb List from participating in the upcoming elections. We also discussed and jointly expressed concern about the situation in BiH and Republika Srpska (RS), agreeing that full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement is the best way to preserve peace and stability,” Vucic said.

He added that the conversation also addressed the anticipated sanctions on the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), and a meeting between Serbian and Russian experts was agreed upon as soon as the United States (U.S.) sanctions are announced.

Vucic noted that he and the Russian Foreign Minister also discussed other issues of bilateral cooperation, expressing confidence that greater efforts could enhance trade exchange between Serbia and Russia.
